Job Description

A cardiothoracic surgery job in the Oklahoma City metro is open with an established and growing CT surgery program in central Oklahoma. Base salary runs $865,000 to $900,000, and with bonus and productivity on top of that, total earning potential approaches $2 million, more than double the base at the top end. The week runs roughly three OR days and two clinic days, clinic is held to 12-15 patients on a full day, and a dedicated CABG room comes with the position. New graduates are welcome, and fellows completing cardiothoracic surgery training are encouraged to apply.

Position, Compensation & Organization Highlights
  • $2 million total earning potential: bonus and productivity stack on top of base salary, putting the ceiling at more than double the starting number
  • $865,000-$900,000 base salary before any bonus or productivity is applied
  • Room for the upside to be real: additional OR access opens up as surgical volume grows, and there is an opportunity to help expand the thoracic and lung nodule programs
  • Flexible surgical week: approximately three OR days and two clinic days
  • Controlled clinic volume: 12-15 patients on a full clinic day
  • Dedicated CABG operating room reserved for this practice
  • Hybrid OR and an established structural heart and TAVR program already running, not a build from zero
  • Case mix: CABG, valve surgery, thoracotomy, and wedge procedures
  • New graduates welcome: fellows completing cardiothoracic surgery training are considered, with no minimum years of practice required
  • Full surgical support: dedicated APP, RNFA, ICU APP, and perfusionist, with cardiovascular anesthesia covered by physician anesthesiologists only
  • Long-tenured cardiovascular team in an established program with experienced staff
  • 25 days of PTO plus 6 holidays and 5 CME days, with up to 20 additional PTO days earned on productivity
  • $7,000 CME allowance plus up to $2,000 for dues and subscriptions
  • Sign-on bonus, relocation, paid malpractice, and a full benefits package
Qualifications
  • MD or DO with completed residency and fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in the medical specialty listed
  • Eligible for Oklahoma medical licensure
  • New graduates welcome: residents and fellows completing training are encouraged to apply, with no minimum years of practice required
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
Living in the Oklahoma City Metro

The Oklahoma City metro runs roughly 1.5 million people across the state capital and a ring of established suburbs in central Oklahoma. Housing costs sit well below national averages, so compensation at this level goes considerably further here than it would in a coastal market. Commutes are measured in minutes rather than freeway hours, and the metro is deep enough that a spouse's career has a real market behind it rather than a single employer.

Community Highlights
  • Housing goes further: home prices and cost of living sit below national averages
  • Schools: strong public districts and established private options across the metro suburbs
  • Short commutes: most of the metro is inside a 30-minute drive, with no coastal-style traffic
  • Easy travel: Will Rogers World Airport offers nonstop service to major hubs
  • Pro sports and concerts: Oklahoma City Thunder NBA games, major touring acts, and large events year-round
  • College athletics: a major SEC university sits inside the metro with a full Division I calendar
  • Water close by: several large lakes in and around the metro for boating, fishing, and trail access
  • Walkable districts: Bricktown, Scissortail Park, and the Paseo Arts District for dining, shopping, and live music
  • Mild winters: the area averages well over 200 sunny days a year
  • Spouse employment: energy, healthcare, aerospace, higher education, and state government all anchor the metro economy
  • Room to spread out: established family neighborhoods with lot sizes the coasts do not offer at this p
